John Binder of Breitbart News revealed that NYPD officers are leaving the police force in droves.

New York Post reported that 272 active NYPD officers have filed for retirement ever since riots over the death of George Floyd have kicked off over the past month.

At a similar period in 2019, 183 officers filed for retirement, marking a 50 percent increase in retirements at this point last year.

One officer, who remained anonymous, told the Post “It’s an all-out war on cops and we have no support.” Over 300 officers suffered injuries during the recent riots.

Initially, Mayor Bill de Blasio promised to defund the NYPD and the Commissioner Dermot Shea put forward a plan to disband the city’s 600-strong undercover anti-crime unit.

Radical anti-law enforcement activists got their wish on June 29 2020, when the city council decided to cut NYPD’s budget by nearly $1 billion.

BLP previously reported that shootings have increased by over 300 percent in the month of June compared to the same period in 2019.

None of New York’s growing crime problem is happening by coincidence. It’s the product of bad public policy such the elimination of cash bail for the majority of nonviolent crimes and overall law approach to crime.

With very little semblance of gun rights and now a gutted police force, New York City is very likely on the cusp of experiencing a massive crime wave reminiscent to that of the 1970s.
