China Expert Believes the CCP is Exploiting George Floyd Unrest to Advance its Agenda

On June 7, 2020, China analyst Gordon Changed declared that the Chinese Communist Party is “deliberately twisting facts” to take advantage of the death of George Floyd as part of their “malicious disinformation campaign.”
“Basically what they are accusing the United States of being is racist, and they do that in so many different forms, and also, they are deliberately twisting the facts,” Chang said on “America’s News HQ.”
Chang’s remarks were made the day after Secretary of State Mike Pompeo criticized the Chinese government in a statement for its “obscene propaganda” in the aftermath of Floyd’s killing.
“Beijing in recent days has showcased its continuing contempt for the truth and scorn for law,” Pompeo asserted on June 6 in a statement.
China has jumped for joy during the U.S. unrest in after the May 25 death of Floyd while at the hands of Minneapolis police officers. China accused the U.S. of a “double standard” by backing anti-China protests in Hong Kong and criticizing China for its human rights track record when anti-racism protests have kicked off across the nation.
“This is just what Beijing does,” Chang stated. “It’s a malicious disinformation campaign. And, we saw this at the beginning of February in connection with the coronavirus as well. So, it doesn’t really matter what the subject is… Beijing is going to go after us hard with the disinformation campaign.”
China’s state-run TV and newspapers have focused their attention on the protests, playing images of the chaos, looting and rioting in a way to portray China as the most stable power in the world.
Chinese Communist Party officials have also trolled the U.S. through posts on social media. Chang described this is as a “more malicious” effort on their part to use soft power against the U.S. and try to position itself as the more rational alternative.
“This is more malicious than we have seen in the past and we’ve seen the fabrications be much more obvious,” he remarked.
Chang called attention to a recent tweet by Hu Xijin, the editor-in-chief of the state-run Global Times, where he quoted House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who described the Hong Kong protests as a “beautiful sight to behold.”
Chang asserted that China misrepresented the quote and “it was clear Beijing was lying.”
“This obviousness is new,” he added. “It really speaks of, I think, total arrogance because they believe that whatever they say, people will believe — even when it’s obviously untrue.”
China’s threat to the U.S. is unconventional in nature. The East Asian country will likely exploit domestic disturbances in the U.S. to expand its influence.
The U.S. will need to get its social house in order.
American cannot be serious about taking on China if it can barely maintain a social cohesive political unit.
