In order to boost abortion sales and separate more potential mothers from their unborn children, Planned Parenthood along with a coalition of 74 other pro-abortion groups are lobbying to eliminate parental rights when it comes to underage girls and “youth assigned females” deciding to get abortions.

The 116-page document, which is also endorsed by the National LGBTQ Task Force, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), and the National Abortion Federation, delineates how in order to advance “sexual and reproductive health care, rights, and justice” for everyone except men, parents should no longer be allowed to have a say in whether or not their underage children murder their unborn grandchildren.

Having to get parental consent, the manifesto contends, is detrimental to the “empowerment” of underage girls, as well as “youth assigned females,” whatever that means. In other words, Planned Parenthood and the abortion lobby want children of any age who are able to get pregnant to be allowed to terminate their pregnancies at any time, and for any reason, without their parents’ permission.

“If the true goal of the coalition is to help empower young women, shouldn’t they encourage young women to look to their mothers, their families, or at least an experienced adult such as a judge for guidance in potentially intense and emotional times?” asks Ryan Neuhaus, writing for the Washington Examiner.

“After all, considering that adult engagement is required for getting your ears pierced or taking an aspirin at school, surely making a life-ending decision such as abortion is worth a conversation with someone who isn’t going to profit from it.”

Scientific research and common sense both prove that children need their parents to help guide them through life

Pointing to multiple studies that have looked into the importance of the relationship between children and their parents, and particularly between young women and their mothers, Neuhaus explains that the state is not a valid substitute for actual flesh and blood kin, which have their children’s best interests at heart.

“Of all familial relationships, the mother – daughter one is most likely to remain important for both parties, even when major life changes occur,” says Kathryn Bojczyk, a professor at Florida State University (FSU), and the author of a study on the importance of the mother-daughter relationship. “Multiple theoretical perspectives recognize the mother – daughter bond as lifelong, intimate, and developmentally important.”

Paula Goodwin from Purdue University in Indiana and Osman Galal from the University of California, Los Angeles believe much the same, having conducted research to show that traditional family structures – a father, a mother, and their children, closely bonded – offer the best support and well-being for young people, rather than the state.

“If the true intent of pro-abortion activists were to provide healthcare to women, while respecting and valuing women, taking mothers out of the decision-making process alongside their children would be viewed as irresponsible, as it devalues motherhood and endangers adolescent women,” Neuhaus contends.
