Cernovich Fights for Press Freedom, Files Appeal to Release Sealed Documents in Sexual Predator Jeffrey Epstein Case

Author, filmmaker, lawyer and journalist Mike Cernovich has filed an appeal to release sealed documents in the case of alleged sex trafficking of underage girls by influential multimillionaire Jeffrey Epstein.
The Epstein case was completely sealed, so Cerno Media filed a motion to unseal in 2017.
Cernovich argued that he had a right to know what allegations had been made against Epstein — as the press have a right to be able to report on what happens in a public courtroom. The judge denied the motion.
While Cernovich was in the process of appealing the decision, the Miami Herald also sued to unseal the records — and they too lost. The Second Circuit of Appeals has now consolidated the cases for judicial efficiency.
On Wednesday, joined by the Reporters Committee for Press Freedom and other outlets and organizations, Cernovich appealed the court’s decision.
The hearings are taking place New York City, Politico reports that “while no ruling was issued Wednesday, all the appeals judges considering the issue appeared to have concluded that Sweet’s decision was too sweeping and failed to make the document-by-document determination about what details were too sensitive to reveal and what the public is entitled to know.” This means that new information about the case could soon be brought to light.
Lawyer Alan Dershowitz, who previously represented Epstein in the case where he received an extremely light sentence for sexually abusing dozens of minors, had attempted to get the press barred from the hearing. Dershowitz’s attorney contended that his oral arguments could contain information that has been under seal.
Dershowitz is also accused of having sex with girls at Epstein’s Florida mansion.
“Two women — one of whom was underage — have said Epstein and his partner, British socialite and environmentalist Ghislaine Maxwell, directed them to have sex with Dershowitz, 80, and other wealthy, powerful men. Dershowitz and Maxwell have denied the claims,” the Miami Herald reports.
Dershowitz has adamantly denied the claims.
