President Donald Trump launched a blistering attack against fake news media and a ‘disgraceful’ BuzzFeed News report that claims he asked his lawyer to lie about Russia before Congress.

Trump briefly addressed reporters on Saturday before he boarded Air Force One for the Dover Air Force Base in Delaware where he’ll honor the four Americans who were killed in a suicide bomb attack in Syria this week.

‘I thought that the BuzzFeed piece and maybe equally as bad the coverage of the BuzzFeed phony story… it was a total phony story… and I appreciate the special counsel coming out with a statement last night. I think it was a very appropriate they did so I appreciate that,’ he said.

‘I think that the BuzzFeed piece was a disgrace to our country, it was a disgrace to journalism, and I think also that the coverage by the mainstream media was disgraceful,’ he added.

He tweeted in a frenzy Saturday morning slamming the report that claims the president told his former lawyer Michael Cohen to lie to Congress about a Moscow real estate project.

Robert Mueller’s office has also released a rare statement disputing the accuracy of the report.

In his quick speech the president also teased his 3pm speech where he’ll deliver remarks on the partial government Shutdown this afternoon, now in its 29th day.

He’s expected to deliver a third proposal to end the crisis and avoid declaring a national emergency. He’s not expected to back down from his border wall demands.

Trump claimed on Saturday that his media coverage, including the controversial BuzzFeed report, has portrayed him as the worst leader in history.

‘@newtgingrich just stated that there has been no president since Abraham Lincoln who has been treated worse or more unfairly by the media than your favorite President, me! At the same time there has been no president who has accomplished more in his first two years in office!’

His tweet came after Former Speaker of the House Gingrich slammed the BuzzFeed report as the ‘equivalent of tabloids you buy at the grocery store’.

Then he continued to tout his success in office, saying the economy is its best in U.S. history.

‘The Economy is one of the best in our history, with unemployment at a 50 year low, and the Stock Market ready to again break a record (set by us many times) – & all you heard yesterday, based on a phony story, was Impeachment. You want to see a Stock Market Crash, Impeach Trump!’ he added.

‘Many people are saying that the Mainstream Media will have a very hard time restoring credibility because of the way they have treated me over the past 3 years (including the election lead-up), as highlighted by the disgraceful Buzzfeed story & the even more disgraceful coverage!’ he tweeted Saturday morning.
