The suspected militants have been killed by Egyptian security forces, in response to the deadly bombing on Friday which saw Vietnamese tourists murdered. Three tourists and an Egyptian guide were killed, with at least 10 others injured when a roadside bomb blast hit their tour bus on Friday. Twelve others on the bus, including the driver, were injured in the blast.

The bus was hit by an explosion from an improvised device hidden near a wall on Marioutiya street at around 4.15pm GMT (6.15pm local time).

The attack took place less than 2.5 miles (4km) from Egypt’s world-famous Giza pyramids.

The Ministry of Interior confirmed it has carried out operations in North Sinai and Giza, where the bus bombing took place on Friday – but did not confirm if all the suspected militants were connected to the grizzly terrorist attack.

However, the ministry claimed forces killed 30 people during raids on hideouts in Giza, where it said terrorist elements were planning a series of attacks on government institutions and tourist hotspots.

Egyptian security forces also killed 10 suspected militants in North Sinai, where a stronghold of ISIS (Islamic State) terrorists is said to be leading an insurgency across Egypt.

State owned news agency MENA said that suspects had been killed in gun battles.

But the ministry did not offer details of suspects’ identity, or whether security forces had suffered casualties, injuries or fatalities – but confirmed that the three separate raids had been conducted simultaneously.

The ministry released photos of bloodied bodies with their faces concealed and assault rifles and shotguns lying on the floor beside them.
