Japan earthquake: Sapporo city ROCKED by 7.0 earthquake

A HUGE earthquake has rocked the northern Japanese city of Sapporo as a major typhoon has killed at least 10 people in the south of the country.

The Magnitude 7 quake hit 112km south of Sapporo on the island of Hokkaido, according to the US Geological Survey.

The tremor struck at an approximate depth of just 10km.

No tsunami warnings have been issued following the tremor.

Sapporo is the capital of Hokkaido prefecture with a population of nearly two million people.
