Venezuela hit by SECOND major earthquake: 5.7-mag quake hits sending terror through region

VENEZUELA has been hit by another earthquake in an aftershock just hours after a 7.3-magnitude quake sent terror through South America.

The tremor hit in Sucre, Venezuela, 100 miles from the Port-of-Spain in Trinidad and Tobago.

It hit just before 2.30pm BTC (9.27am local time).

Venezuela was hit by the biggest earthquake in the country in the 20th and 21st centuries yesterday, with a 7.3-magnitude tremor being felt as far as Colombia, Trinidad and Tobago and St Lucia.

Buildings were severely damaged in the capital of Caracas, with a half-finished tower block named Torre de David seen tipping over at the top five floors.

Venezuelan citizens recorded their shock at today’s strong aftershock on earthquake tracking website EMSC-CSEM.

One wrote: “I was in the office and went straight under the table.”

Another said: “I was in a boat moored to a dock and felt the waves ripping the engine.”
