There was no immediate tsunami alert from the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center.

The tremor follows another one earlier today measuring 6.3 which happened near the town of Belanting.

Following the first tremor on Sunday, East Lombok resident Agus Salim said: “I was driving to deliver aid to evacuees when suddenly the electricity pole was swaying. I realised it was an earthquake.

“People started to scream and cry. They all ran to the street.”

Earlier this month, a quake measuring 6.4 caused devastation on the island, which 460 casualties reported so far.

On August 5 hundreds of homes were destroyed in a devastating earthquake that killed more than 430 people in Lombok.

More than 350,000 people fled their homes after a quake to shelter in government-provided tents or makeshift structures in open fields. Authorities say aid is slow in getting to some of the hardest-hit areas as they are remote.
