The Camberwell man, who did not want to be named, described frequent fights in the South London area as so “normal” that he considered them “not very interesting”.

The stabbings took place in broad daylight outside Landor House, close to the Elmington Estate area, according to Scotland Yard.

Police said that all the victims of the incident were between 15 and 16-years-old. Six teenagers, also between the ages of 15 and 16, are in custody after being arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and grevious bodily harm.

Speaking to LBC reporter Rachael Venables, the Camberwell man describes seeing a large group of youths with knives drawn: “I was having lunch, getting ready to go to work. There was a lot of them, probably about ten.

“I did see knives but I didn’t see anyone get stabbed at the time. I went back inside to carry on eating.

“I wasn’t very interested. I see it all the time anyway.

“I thought it was just another normal fight. It happens a lot here.”

Police officers and paramedics were called to the scene shortly before 5:30pm on Thursday, with the victims, who have not yet been named, taken to hospital for treatment.
