“Facebook tries to explain their practices in ways that make Facebook look like the good guy, that they are somehow protecting your privacy,” said Jennifer Lynch, a senior staff attorney with the Electronic Frontier Foundation, a digital rights group. “But it doesn’t get at the fact that they are scanning every photo.”

Facebook is how you get from social medial to societal dominance. This is how go from a Harvard kid hacking college databases to rate female students as ‘hot or not’, to installing real-time Facial Recognition tracking systems on a global scale.

Imagine a world where cameras watch as you shop at your favorite store, but they’re not security cameras, they’re Facebook cameras. As of the first quarter of 2018, Facebook had 2.19 billion monthly active users, that’s approaching almost half of the population of the entire planet. Facebook has applied for 2 patents that will capture and recognize the faces of every one of those people as they go about their daily business. Your face has made Facebook wealthy beyond Mark Zuckerberg’s wildest dreams, and now he plans to put your face under permanent lock and key.

“Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.” Revelation 13:18 (KJV)

Under the guise of protecting people’s freedoms, Facebook rolled out facial recognition technology all across Europe, with the premise being that facial recognition will keep people safe.

FROM WRAL: Facebook’s push to spread facial recognition also puts the company at the center of a broader and intensifying debate about how the powerful technology should be handled. The technology can be used to remotely identify people by name without their knowledge or consent. While proponents view it as a high-tech tool to catch criminals, civil liberties experts warn it could enable a mass surveillance system. Facial recognition works by scanning faces of unnamed people in photos or videos and then matching codes of their facial patterns to those in a database of named people. Facebook has said that users are in charge of that process, telling them: “You control face recognition.” But critics said people cannot actually control the technology — because Facebook scans their faces in photos even when their facial recognition setting is turned off. “Facebook tries to explain their practices in ways that make Facebook look like the good guy, that they are somehow protecting your privacy,” said Jennifer Lynch, a senior staff attorney with the Electronic Frontier Foundation, a digital rights group. “But it doesn’t get at the fact that they are scanning every photo.” READ MORE
