Hawaii volcano Kilauea has destroyed over 80 buildings or structures since its intense eruption over a month ago.

The volcano has forced over 2,000 people to leave the area and over 20 fissures have been created by the volcano.

In the footage, the Hawaii volcano’s activity can be seen over the weekend, cut down into a short time-lapse.

Starting on Saturday morning and going until the early hours of Monday morning, the volcano can be seen spewing lava and pumping an ash cloud into the sky.

Clouds also appear to surround the Kilauea volcano, witnessed from the Lower East Rift Zone webcam.

On Monday another plume of ash was rocketed around 12,000ft into the skyline.

Dr Carolyn Parcheta, a USGS Geologist said: “Yesterday on the lower eastern rift zone, the whole of the fissure system from the middle of Leilani Estates to the east end of the fissure system was active. One of the fountains was going up to 60 yards high.”

She added: “The fissure immediately of Leilani Estates became active late last night sending a flow into Leilani Estates.

“That moved north through the whole street and then turned north east.

“There have been several ash plumes in the last 24 hours which have gone over 10,000 feet and the summit floor is still deflating.”

Last week a spokesman for the USGS warned: “Volcanic gas emissions remain very high from the fissure eruptions. Magma continues to be supplied to the lower East Rift Zone.
