Austria: 8-year-old girl tells teacher Allah prefers girls with a headscarf

The growing influence of Islam is leading to an increasing number of problems in Austria’s schools, Kronen Zeitung reports.
One teacher revealed in an interview with a journalist from ‘Addendum’ that an eight-year-old girl refused to remove her headscarf because her mother had told her that “Allah prefers girls with headscarves.”
The influence of Islam has also been affecting teaching materials. A teacher has reported that a primary school student did not want to take her textbook home with her for fear that, if her father saw the pictures of naked people in it, he would kill her.
In another case, a student broke out in tears saying that he could not open his book on the human anatomy because: “an angel sits on my shoulder and writes down everything that I do good and evil. When I open this book, the angel writes down evil.”
Two years ago, teacher representatives wrote a letter to inform the Vienna school board, the youth advocate, the faith community, and the education ministry on recent events and called on the institutions to act.
