California earthquake update LIVE: California struck by 10 earthquakes in 24 hours

CALIFORNIA has been hit by 10 earthquakes in a 24 hour period, with three earthquakes measuring more than magnitude four and two quakes striking miles off the coast of Northern California. Here is the latest news and updates as the area continues to experience seismic activity.

Here is the latest news and updates on the Californian earthquakes (all times in GMT).

3:51pm: Alaska hit by a series of mini earthquakes

Alaska has been hit by a series of three mini earthquakes during the early hours of the morning (local time).

A magnitude 3.9 earthquake hit 238km south-east of Kodiak at 12.59am local time (8.59am GMT), followed by a further magnitude 2.8 earthquake at 4.04am local time (1.04pm GMT) 45km north-east of Old Iliamna and a third and final earthquake measuring 2.5 on the Richter scale at 6.19am local time (2.19pm GMT) with its epicentre 35km south-west of Kodiak Station.

It comes just days after a magnitude 7.9 struck in the Gulf of Alaska just after midnight on Tuesday which prompted a huge tsunami warning for the entire west coast of the US, which was then cancelled.
