Three B-2 stealth bombers have flown into the Pacific in a military muscle flex just days after landmark talks between North and South Korea.

Meanwhile, North Korea observers have detected “significant tunneling” around Kim’s mountain nuclear test site at Punggye-ri.

Soldiers and mine carts were spotted around the nuclear base throughout December, and a pile of soil near a tunnel has been consistently growing.

It is unclear whether the US bombers deployment is linked to the ramping up North Korean activity.

Kim Jong-un has outright threatened to destroy the US bases on the Pacific island amid nuclear tensions with US President Donald Trump.

North Korea watchers 38 North revealed the new activity and noted it is part of Kim’s “continued efforts to maintain the Punggye-ri site’s potential for future nuclear testing”.

The nuclear test site has been subject to increased scrutiny after reports 200 men died during a major tunnel collapse after Kim’s H-bomb test in September.

Scientists have questioned the mountain site’s stability and whether it could take another nuclear explosion without a major disaster.

North Korea have so-far detonated five nuclear bombs are the site, and are rumoured to be considering above ground blasts – including over the Pacific.
