India EARTHQUAKE: Huge 5.5 magnitude quake rocks Indian border with Myanmar
INDIA’s border with Myanmar (formerly Burma) has been rocked by a huge 5.5 magnitude earthquake, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS).

The quake struck at 6.47am GMT at a depth of 14 miles (22.8km) near the Indian village of Imphal – which has a population of around 224,000.
No reports have emerged so far about damage or casualties.
The region is a bed for seismic activity due collisions of the India and Eurasia plates.
In 2016, the India–Myanmar border was hit with a 6.7 magnitude earthquake which killed 11 and injured 200 others.
India’s deadliest earthquake occurred in 2005 in disputed Pakistani region of Kashmir. The quake which also affected Pakistan and Afghanistan, killed between 86,00 and 87,000 people across the three nations.
The 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami led to the deaths of an estimated 18,045 people in India after it struck near Indonesia’s Sumatra coast and sparked a tsunami.
