Earlier this week rogue leader Kim Jong-un sparked US fury by warning the nation is “within range” of his nuclear arsenal, and the button is always on his desk.

Furious US President Donald Trump retaliated by boasting his nuclear button is “much bigger and better”.

It comes after Kim ended months of silence by launching a Hwasong-15 missile in November, boasting it was his most powerful yet.

But things could be set to take a dangerous turn for the worse, after fresh satellite images appear to capture the nuke nut preparing his next launch.

According to 38 North, there is strong evidence to suggest a new rocket is being lined up at Sohae, a North Korean launch spot.

Earlier reports suggested the nation could be launching its new Kwangmyongsong-5 Earth-observation satellite.

North Korea launched the Kwangmyongsong-4 rocket in February 2016 claiming it was for “peaceful, scientific purposes”, despite criticism it as an ICBM launch instead.

However, new satellite images suggest it will be different rocket test.

Its findings read: “There are several indicators that suggest preparations for an upcoming rocket engine test at the facility‚Äôs vertical engine test stand.

“The rail-mounted environment shelter was moved from its position flush against the vertical engine test stand to the centre of the concrete apron.”

It added: “As noted in previous reports, the shelter has been moved to its current position on the concrete apron either to permit the receipt and preparation of rocket engines prior to testing or to unload them after a test.”

Concluding its findings, it said: “Both colour and near-infrared imagery, however, show no indications that an engine test has taken place since November 23, suggestion that if the the current activity is test related, it is likely preparations for a future test.”
