Donald Trump Jr. claimed on Tuesday that a deep-state conspiracy to undermine his father is stopping him from making his agenda a reality.
‘There is, and there are, people at the highest levels of government that don’t want to let America be America,’ he told a group of young conservatives in West Palm Beach, Florida.
‘My father talked about a rigged system throughout the campaign, and people were like, “Oh, what are you talking about?”, he recalled.
‘But it is. And you’re seeing it.’
Trump Jr. was addressing the Turning Point USA Student Action Summit.
He also blasted special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into alleged election-year collusion with Russian actors.
The president’s son was referring to a blockbuster development this month that saw Mueller remove FBI agent Peter Strzok from his team.
Strzok exchanged anti-Trump text messages with his lover, suggesting that the Mueller probe was an ‘insurance policy’ against a Trump election victory.
‘Imagine what would happen if we rolled back the clock to 2008,’ Trump Jr. said, and politically biased FBI officials tried to undermine a potential Barack Obama presidency.
‘What do you think would happen?’ he asked. ‘Do you think the media would cover that? Yeah. Do you think it would be brushed under the rug like, “Oh, it’s nothing. It doesn’t mean anything”?’
‘There would be revolution in the streets. So I’m glad that this is coming out now, because it is good, because real people have to see this,’ he said.
