Vladimir Putin has declared his intention to run for a fourth term as Russian president in 2018.

Ending months of speculation over his plans to rule Russia, Putin made his announcement at the GAZ factory in Nizhny Novgorod after being asked by a worker to confirm his intentions, after declining to do so earlier Wednesday at a youth rally in Moscow:

“There is probably no better place and no better reason to announce this. Thank you for your support. I will run for president of the Russian Federation, ” Putin said…

Russia’s forthcoming election is due on March 18, 2018.

With his approval ratings topping 80 percent, Putin is certain to win a quick victory in the March vote.

Putin has effectively been in power in Russia since 2000.

Will President Trump inflitrate Russia’s social media sphere to support Putin? Will Mark Warner demand America ‘meddle’ as retaliation?
