Vitaly Pashin, a top member of Vladimir Putin’s regime, made the game-changing claim following a visit to the hermit kingdom.

He said: “North Korea is currently ready to conduct negotiations with the US with the participation of Russia as a third party.”

But Pyongyang’s latest ICBM infuriated US supremo Donald Trump who may push for military action over entering diplomatic talks.

US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson previously rubbished suggestions his team would meet with Kim Jong-un while the rogue nation continues to fire ballistic missiles.

He added any talks would have to end with the North surrendering its stash of nukes – something Pyongyang has so far refused to consider.

The US’ tough stance on the North has angered Putin who blasted Washington for pushing the world closer to war.

Moscow has long wanted a peaceful end to the crisis and even dismissed Trump’s call to cut all ties with Pyongyang.

His foreign minister Sergey Lavrov said: “We see this negatively. We have repeatedly stated that the pressure of sanctions has been exhausted.
