North Korea has issued a dire warning to rival leaders, setting alarm bells ringing in Washington, Seoul and Tokyo.
A state-run newspaper in Pyongyang, which effectively acts as a mouthpiece for the one-party dictatorship, has sent a direct warning to US leader Donald Trump.
It said Pyongyang did not want Washington to attempt dialogue or negotiation, claiming Kim Jong-un had “no interest” in words.
Instead North Korea has demanded America “repent of its crimes” after bringing the peninsula to the brink of “nuclear war”.
The article said: “The US said the DPRK should come out to the negotiating table for denuclearisation talks. This is like the guilty party filing suit first.
“The US should repent of its crimes of bringing about the danger of a nuclear war to the peninsula before taking about the ‘negotiated denuclearisation without preconditions’.”
And North Korea accused the US of only pretending to push for dialogue, instead aiming to crush the country by military force.
The article said: “What the US wants is to stifle the DPRK by force of arms, not for dialogue and negotiation.
“As the prevailing situation shows, the US seeks to bring down the DPRK by force of arms and take hold of world supremacy, not for negotiated settlement of the issue.”
And the article finished with a dire warning to Washington to back off or face North Korea’s nuclear wrath.
