Fox News’ Shepard Smith did his best impersonation of a Hillary Clinton lawyer during his show on Tuesday.

Smith spent several minutes trying to debunk the Uranium One scandal, which points out that the Clinton Foundation received millions of dollars from Russian energy officials shortly before Clinton was in the position to reject the sale of Uranium One to Russia.

Smith pointed out that Clinton was only one of nine members of the panel that could have rejected the deal, and also noted that the donations to the Clinton Foundation came several years before the deal was made.

However, he declined to note the lack of transparency and the conflict of interest surrounding the deal and didn’t point out new reporting about the deal.

The Hill reported recently that the FBI was investigating Russian efforts to take over nuclear interests in the U.S. through corruption and bribery before the Uranium One deal was approved. Congress, the American people, and even top government officials were unaware of the key investigation.

The New York Times also pointed out that even if the Clintons are not guilty of a quid pro quo relationship, the deal represents “ethical challenges.”

“Whether the donations played any role in the approval of the uranium deal is unknown,” wrote The New York Times. “But the episode underscores the special ethical challenges presented by the Clinton Foundation, headed by a former president who relied heavily on foreign cash to accumulate $250 million in assets even as his wife helped steer American foreign policy as secretary of state, presiding over decisions with the potential to benefit the foundation’s donors.”
