The former army reservist told Fox News: “We’re in this situation with North Korea because of long-term bureaucrats doing exactly what long-term bureaucrats do.”
2.31pm: China and Japan to deepen cooperation amid World War 3 fears
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Xi Jinping have pledged to work together on matters surrounding North Korea, Mr Abe announced after meeting the Chinese President earlier today.
“At the end of the meeting, President Xi said this is a meeting that marks a fresh start of relations between Japan and China. I totally feel the same way,” Abe told reporters.
The leaders also agreed to accelerate talks on implementing a method of communication between the two nation’s militaries, Reuters reported.
Japanese residents are living in fear of a North Korean strike after Kim Jong-un ordered a missile to be flown directly over Japan in September.
The ballistic missile flew more than 2,300 miles at a hight of about 500 miles before crashing into the sea.
