Exercise Joint Warrior will see Royal Navy vessels link up with allied ships from NATO and the US in a huge live-fire exercise.

Missiles will be launched and guns fired as the armada of warships – alongside troops and aircraft – gathers off the coast of Scotland.

Joint Warrior is the largest exercise of its kind in Europe and will see ships from 14 nations prepare for battle amid fears of World War 3.

Royal Navy commanders revealed to Daily Star Online the arsenal of British sea power being assembled at Cape Wrath in Sutherland.

Seven warships from the Royal Navy will spearhead the operation, fleet bosses told this website.

The 8,500-ton, 500ft-long destroyer HMS Dragon will be the centrepiece of the operation, one of the most advanced vessels in Britain.

She is bristling with guns along with anti-air and anti-ship missiles supported by state-of-the-art radar systems.

The destroyer is recognisable from other Type 45 class vessels thanks to the massive red dragon emblazoned on her bow.

Duke class frigates HMS Argyll and HMS Somerset will also be in Britain’s arsenal for Joint Warrior.

Both weigh around 5,000 tons and are 436 ft long, armed with torpedoes, machine guns and 4.5 inch cannons.

HMS Argyll test-fired missile interceptor weapons earlier this year before her deployment to Japan amid tensions with North Korea in 2018.
