Harald Vilimsky launched a scathing attack on the bloc following Mr Juncker’s much-anticipated State of the Union speech on Wednesday.

Jean-Claude Juncker laid out a vision for closer integration in spite of Brexit, and warned the UK they would “regret” the decision to leave.

The president said: “March 29 2019 – that will be the day when the United Kingdom will leave the EU.

“This will be a very sad and tragic moment in our history we will always regret this and I think that you will regret it as well soon if I might say.”

He outlined plans for universal membership of the Eurozone and Schengen, reaffirmed close cooperation on defence, fleshed out plans for an independent EU finance minister, and recommended merging the presidencies of European Union and European Council are merged.

But following his address, Mr Vilimsky, vice-chair of the Europe of Nations and Freedom (ENF) party, voiced his dissatisfaction with Mr Juncker’s vision for Europe.

He said: “We have to say these apologies for European centralism, the European union is not Europe and Europe is not the European union.

“The European union is nothing more than an association, an association with rules, and you can change these rules.
