BREAKING: Man wearing suicide belt shot down in Barcelona suburb Subirats

ARMED police have shot a man wearing a suicide belt in Subirats, about 30km west of Barcelona.

Police in Catalonia said an “incident” was underway in Subirats, municipality west of Barcelona, at around 4:30pm local time (3:40pm UK time).

Mossos d’Esquadra, the Catalan police force, tweeted: “4:39pm: Police operation in progress at Subirats. Spread only official information.”

It is unknown whether the man is Younes Abouyaaqoub, a 22-year-old Moroccan-born, who officers believe was the driver in last week’s Barcelona terror attack.

Twelve people were killed in the ISIS attack.
