Knifeman ‘wearing fake suicide belt’ wounds eight in Russian city centre rampage

A KNIFEMAN has gone on a stabbing rampage in Russia, injuring at least people before being shot dead by police marksmen.

he stabbing spree took place in the remote Siberian city of Surgut.

Local media reported the attacker was wearing a fake suicide belt and named him as 23-year-old Bobichel Abdurakhmanov.

A spokeswoman for the local office of the Russian law enforcement committee refused to comment on whether the incident was terrorism related but it is not thought to be a primary motive at present.

She said: “A man was running along the main streets stabbing people.

“The committee is investigating attempted murder.”

The spokeswoman confirmed the attacker has been killed.

The knife attacks happened at around 11:20am local time.

Nobody was killed but the victims required medical treatment or their injuries.
