DONALD Trump said he is working on a “major” new trade deal with the UK, saying the situation could be “very big and exciting”.

Donald Trump tweeted his praise for Britain last night in a major boost for Mrs May and her Brexit team.
The US president posted on social media this lunchtime: “Working on major Trade Deal with the United Kingdom. Could be very big & exciting. JOBS!
“The E.U. is very protectionist with the U.S. STOP!”
He had earlier tweeted: “Our special relationship w/ UK is going to be even better. @USTradeRep & UK’s @LiamFox met today to begin new chapter for stronger trade!”
It comes during Mr Fox’s visit to Washington DC, where he is exploring potential for a trade deal with the US after Brexit.
While official trade negotiations cannot begin until a Brexit deal has been agreed with the European Union, early talks are ongoing.
Yesterday Mr Fox gave assurances a working group of US and British officials was already looking at ways trade between the two states can continue and improve after Brexit.
Speaking at the American Enterprise Institute, Mr Fox said: “The first discussions will promote commercial continuity as the UK leaves the EU.
“But our ambitions are much wider. The working group provides a spring-board, laying the groundwork for a comprehensive free trade agreement between our two nations, post-Brexit – to start a new and exciting chapter in our special relationship.”
Like Mr Trump’s tweet, Mr Fox hailed the special relationship.
