Tensions on the border have been rapidly building over recent months as despot leader Kim Jong-un continues to push his nuclear weapons programme.

Last week, Pyongyang tested its latest intercontinental ballistic missile – which is reportedly capable of reaching Alaska some 5,500km away.

And now the warmongering dictator has boasted it would be a piece of cake to nuke both the US and South Korea in his latest show of military power.

But the South actually has a more well equipped army than North Korea with better trained troops – which the country is putting through fresh exercises amid the threat of an imminent invasion.

Photos taken from a live-fire drill in Pohang, where the marine corps training camp is based, show 13 tanks, three armoured vehicles and 70 troops in action.

The images show as huge dust clouds rise from the ground, as its tanks fire off rounds into the distance amid huge fireballs.

The drills come as Rodong Sinmun, one of the country’s propaganda rags, blasted a joint exercise between South Korea and the US – issuing a grave warning to the allies.

US Air Force bombers dropped weapons over a training range in South Korea as fighter jets from both countries took part in the live fire drills.

Fighter jets buzzed the fortified border and dropped 900kg bombs during the mission last weekend.
