Images have emerged of some of those taken into police custody – sources say the group includes at least four women.

The dynamic police raid centred around a block of flats in the Barking area, which has now been taped off.

Heavily armed officers stormed the Elizabeth Fry flats in Barking, east London, shortly after 7am.

One of the three terrorists responsible for the London Bridge atrocity is believed to have lived on the estate in a ground-floor flat.

According to reports on Sky News, a witness claimed to see a number of women wearing Islamic dress speaking to police while the raid was being carried out.

Photographs have emerged showing several men lying on the ground with their hands handcuffs behind their backs.

At least seven people were killed and 48 injured as three jihadis rammed a van into crowds before going on a stabbing spree on Saturday night.

NHS England has confirmed 21 of those injured are in a critical condition.

According to earlier comments by Sky News Crime Correspondent Martin Brunt, the speed of the raid at in the east London tower block indicated that authorities had information about the identity of at least one of the London Bridge attackers.

Sources earlier said that further raids were being carried out at properties in Billericay, Essex – however, Essex police have confirmed that this is a separate incident and is not linked to the London Bridge attack.
