The arrest occurred in the Moss Side area of the city, the same area where armed police wearing balaclavas conducted raids yesterday morning.

This is now the tenth arrest made in connection with the attacks, days after Salman Abedi was named as the suicide bomber.

Greater Manchester Police have released a statement which said: “This morning we have arrested a man in the Moss Side area.

“The arrest is connected to Monday’s attack on the Manchester Arena, but this is a fast moving investigation and we are keeping an open mind at this stage.

“As it stands ten people in total have been arrested in connection with the investigation, of which a man and a woman have since been released without charge.

“Eight men remain in custody for questioning.”

The inner-city area in southern Manchester is where Raphael Hostey, a prolific ISIS recruiter who was linked to suicde bomber Salman Abedi, grew up.

Abedi and Hostey reportedly hung around on the same estates and worshipped in the same Didsbury mosque.
