A BRIT just back from North Korea has revealed the prevailing attitude in the country to the growing threat of nuclear war – and it’s not what you’d expect.

The tourist, from the north of England, said people seemed nonchalant about the risk of nuclear annihilation from the few clues he had.

He heard murmurs about warships and foreign threats, he said, but most people seemed indifferent to the rapidly escalating row.

That’s despite the US threatening Kim Jong-un with an armada, amid fears that the dictator was planning a nuclear test.

However, since all contact with ordinary North Koreans was closely watched, the tourist said it was difficult to be sure.

He told Daily Star Online: “It was a bit ‘seen it all before’ to be honest, but it’s kind of difficult to get a real sense.

“Although we toured around the country the only interaction you get is with your tour guides really.

“The only occasional comments that you picked up was that people thought it was a bit ‘same old, same old’ really.

“They’ve always felt threatened by the United States since 1950 or whatever and they continue to feel threatened by them.

“There’s the occasional mention of warships round about and continued threats, but it was a general sort of thing rather than anything specific or new.”

This may have been down to a lack of information, with the Brit admitting that his only link to the outside world was the Al Jazeera news channel in his hotel room.
