A memorial to those who died during the Syrian siege of Aleppo has been set up this week in the German city of Dresden – amid furore among far-right groups.

Locals have been divided by the ‘art installation’ after its opening ceremony was disrupted by furious protesters.

The monument, which includes three gutted buses set upright, have been placed in the city centre in tribute to the victims of the battle for Aleppo.

However, many locals have condemned the memorial as blasting it as a taxpayer-funded worship of radical Islamists.

They suggest that the original inspiration of the three buses was taken from a group of Islamist militants in Syria.
