LANDLORDS in east Germany are refusing to rent to both right and left politicians after a series of attacks left their properties badly damaged, it has been revealed.

Both neo-Nazis and hard-left radicals are behind the attacks which pinpoint homes and constituency offices.
Susanne Schaper, an MP for The Left party in the state parliament in Saxony, hasn’t had a constituency office since October when neo-Nazis attacked her Chemnitz HQ, breaking windows, hurling paint inside and scrawling “I love National Socialism” at the entrance.
After the attack her landlord cancelled her contract and she has been rejected by 10 other property owners who say she is too big a risk to take on as a tenant.
Other politicians at both ends of the political spectrum say they too are now pariahs when it comes to renting a property or getting insurance.
Frau Schaper said: “It is a completely wrong signal to send.”
But the MP added she understood that landlords did not want to see “their properties razed to the ground”.
