House Speaker Paul Ryan had trouble envisioning President-elect Donald Trump even winning the Republican nomination, but now the two men have patched things up to the point where they talk nearly every day as Ryan plans to push Trump’s – and his own – agenda through Congress.

‘I didn’t see this one coming,’ Ryan told Scott Pelley in an interview to be aired in its entirety on ’60 Minutes.’

‘He knows that. Donald Trump’s a very – he was a very unconventional candidate. He’s going to be an unconventional president. What I like about it, in my, like I said, almost daily conversations, is he’s just a get-things-done kinda guy,’ Ryan explained.

During the campaign, Ryan said Trump’s comments that judge Judge Gonzalo Curiel couldn’t be impartial because of his Mexican heritage met the ‘textbook definition’ of racism.
