Art Sisneros, a Republican member of the Electoral College, said he had decided to quit the body rather than cast a vote for Donald Trump
For months, Sisneros – a Christian – had wavered on whether he could support the now president-elect
The day before election day, Sisneros decided he couldn’t vote for Trump, pointing to Bible passages, which called for a ‘qualified’ candidate
He made his decision over the weekend that he also couldn’t vote for Trump as an elector and thus decided to step down
‘I will sleep well at night knowing I neither gave in to their demands nor caved to my convictions,’ he wrote on his blog

Art Sisneros, a Texas Republican elector, has decided to resign from the Electoral College rather than vote for Donald Trump.

Sisneros penned a lengthy blog post about his decision over the weekend and confirmed to Politico on Monday he was serious about dropping out.

‘I do not see how Donald Trump is biblically qualified to serve in the office of the Presidency,’ Sisneros argued. ‘Since I can’t in good conscience vote for Donald Trump, and yet have sinfully made a pledge that I would, the best option I see at this time is to resign my position as an Elector,’ he also wrote.
