The number of the licenses for the possession and carry of firearms by individuals has increased in the Czech Republic due to the fear of migrants, local media reported.
For the first time in a few years, the number of the Czechs who applied for permits to possess personal weapons has increased. Experts attribute this trend to the growing fear of migrants arriving in Europe, online edition iDNES.cz wrote.
In an interview with the media outlet, shooting instructor Milan Vesely said that a few years ago mostly sport shooters wanted to obtain a permit to carry weapons. But today, there is a growing number of those who want to get a Group E certificate, that is, to protect their life, health and property. Many of those who have submitted applications are women.
“People are not stupid, they see that the security situation in the world and in nearby regions has deteriorated dramatically. They are afraid and are preparing for the worst,” Vesely said.
