The Federal Bureau of Investigation announced on Friday that was reopening its investigation into Hillary Clinton emails after coming across new messages that ‘appear to be pertinent’ to her case.
FBI Director James said in a letter to Congress that an investigative team is seeking to determine if any of the emails contain classified information and whether any of them are ‘significant.’
Comey said that after learning about the emails he advised the bureau to take ‘appropriate investigative steps’ to review the emails.
The extraordinary announcement comes 11 days out from the U.S. presidential election.
Clinton, a former secretary of state and the Democratic nominee for the White House, leads Republican Donald Trump, by four points in the latest polling.
