The interim Ukip leader admitted the Presidental hopeful’s lewd remarks about TV host Nancy O’Dell, which surfaced last night, were “ugly”.
But he said the US should be focusing on issues such as the economy ahead of tomorrow’s debate between Mr Trump and Hillary Clinton.
He said: “I’m not pretending it’s good – it’s ugly – but there’s a whole host of stories coming out about Hillary, not to mention Bill.
“‘If I were Trump, I would say: ‘Hands up, I behaved in a very boorish, alpha male way – I apologise – but let’s talk about the real issues’.”
“Let’s talk about America’s place in the world, let’s talk about security.
“Let’s talk about people’s incomes, let’s talk about manufacturing.”
