Hundreds of US Special Advisors currently train soldiers in the southern part of the country, a predominantly Muslim area, which is ravaged by conflict.
Outspoken Rodrigo Duterte told Americans soldiers to leave the Philippines, calling them a provocation to the Muslim population in the southern area of Mindanao.
That area has a strong prescence of the US hating Abu Sayyaf terror group.
Addressing soldiers from the States, Mr Duterte said their presence “upsets people”. He added: “If they see an American, they want to kill him.”
In Mindanao around 150,000 have been killed in the last decade as Muslims and leftist rebels wreak havoc.
The government is seeking a new peace process with the troubled region with the US Special Task Force helping train Filipino units, but are banned from actively fighting.
