Pope Francis has said he will not label Islam as ‘terrorism’ because it would be unfair and warned Europe was pushing its young into the hands of extremists.
The pontiff was asked by reporters why he never mentions Islam when condemning terrorism or violence.
‘It’s not true and it’s not correct (to say) Islam is terrorism,’ he said, defending his decision not to name the religion when condemning the brutal murder of a Catholic priest in France in the latest of a string of recent attacks in Europe claimed by the Islamic State group.
