Republican Trump posted a video message on Facebook urging people to unite and stand together with police officers.
The media mogul also pledged to make his country safe again.
It came as the latest nationwide poll put him two points ahead of rival Hillary Clinton in the race for the White House.
The Rasmussen poll found Trump ahead across the entire country, with 40 points to Mrs Clinton’s 38.
