Joint Base Andrews went into lockdown Thursday morning for a couple hours, after news of an active shooter situation – amid the base’s planned training for just such a situation – led to emergency response and widespread media attention.

In a tweet about 10:39 a.m., Joint Base Andrews tweeted: “‘All Clear.’ The lock down on base has been lifted.”

In a followup Twitter post seconds later, JBA clarified: “‘All Clear’ for the base with the exception of Malcolm Grow medical facility.”

Earlier in the morning, Stars and Stripes, citing the Pentagon, reported a “barricade situation” on the third floor of the building that serves as a medical facility.

Joint Base Andrews’ Twitter account, meanwhile, was a flurry of messages.
