Police shot dead a gunman who took a person hostage inside a Walmart in Amarillo, Texas, on Tuesday afternoon.
The Amarillo Police Department tweeted the gunman was shot dead by SWAT team members shortly before 2pm. No other injuries were immediately reported.
Police officers were ‘on scene with armed subject at the Walmart at Georgia and Canyon Drive’, according to a tweet posted around 12:30pm. Police said they received the first report of the situation at 11:30am.
Officials believed there was only one shooter. There had been shots fired before officers arrived but it was unclear how many, police told Daily Mail Online.
