Well, this should tell you a whole lot about what modern “American values” are.
According to assistant attorney general Vanita Gupta, head of the DOJ’s Civil Rights Division, “to guarantee all people ‘equal dignity in the eyes of the law’” means men who dress like women should be allowed in women’s bathrooms.
“Even after the Supreme Court’s landmark gay marriage decision last year in Obergefell v. Hodges that guaranteed all people ‘equal dignity in the eyes of the law,’ we see new efforts to deny LGBTI individuals the respect they deserve and the protection our laws guarantee,” Gupta said.
The statement comes on the heels of Gupta’s boss, Attorney General Loretta Lynch, filing a federal civil rights lawsuit against the state of North Carolina over its bathroom law that would force public schools, colleges, and government agencies to designate bathrooms to be used by people based on their biological sex.
