Thousands Take Part in Anti-Merkel Rally in Berlin

Some 5,000 people are expected to attend a march against German Chancellor Angela Merkel which began in the capital city of Berlin on Saturday, while organizers of a counter-rally are hoping around 11,000 people would attend, local media reported.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to the RBB broadcaster, the anti-Merkel event has been organized by the right-wing groups, and the National Democratic Party of Germany and the Patriotic Europeans Against the Islamisation of the West (Pegida) group are also expected to join in.

Meanwhile, a local Protestant church has organized the “walk for openness and tolerance.”
