Saturday’s Republican presidential primary debate in South Carolina was immediately overshadowed by talk of how to handle the death of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, with all six candidates on stage agreeing that the GOP-controlled Senate should stiffen its resolve and refuse to confirm a lame-duck President Barack Obama’s nominee.
Scalia passed away hours before the event began, casting a pall on the evening. But it took less than two minutes for front-runner Donald Trump to outline a short strategy.
