The European Union is facing a massive refugee crisis, with an increasing number of undocumented asylum seekers entering the EU member countries.
Europe is experiencing the most severe mass migration since World War II, when 14 million Germans left Prussia, Eastern Germany, as well as Central and Eastern Europe. The main difference is, however, that the migration process in the middle of the twentieth century lasted for two years, while the current influx of migrants from Africa and the Middle East to Europe has no end in sight.
Over 800,000 migrants from conflict-torn countries of the Middle East and North Africa have arrived in the European Union since the beginning of 2015, according to the EU border agency Frontex.
“As long as Europe’s borders remain open, they will come. And the people who wish to come number not just in the millions but the tens and scores of millions,” journalist Patrick J. Buchanan wrote for the American Conservative.
