The deployment of US missiles in Europe would aggravate tensions in the region, member of the European Parliament Committee on Foreign Affairs Andrei Mamykin said Friday.
RIGA (Sputnik) — Earlier media reports suggested that the United States was considering deploying land-based missile systems in Europe capable of threatening Russia’s nuclear potential as a response to an alleged violation of the 1987 Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty by Moscow.
“Many politicians in the European Union talk about the possibility of different kind of weapon deployment near the border with Russia. In my opinion, it is lunacy,” Mamykin said.
