Viruses continue to mutate at increasing speeds as modern medicine fails to keep up with pathogens evolving stealthily in nature. It’s even possible that modern medicine is to blame for the acceleration of virus mutation. Antiviral drugs typically attack one form of a virus. The virus quickly learns how to survive the synthetic antiviral mode of attack, evolving into stronger viruses in the evolutionary process. This creates a demand for newer drugs to stay ahead of the
mutations.

It’s quite possible that Ebola’s uncontrollable mutation and airborne potential is yet another side effect of a medical system that doesn’t deal with the root of the problem. Still, drug companies continue to chase what they will never be able to contain, using medical methods that may save lives up front but perpetuate more harm to humankind down the road.
